March 23, 1930 – December 21, 2017
Gerhardt “Gerry” Alexander Von Grat was born in Parry, Saskatchewan, he succumbed to pneumonia at the age of 87 in Kamloops, B.C. He farmed (14-15-2-W-2) near Whitewood, Saskatchewan until retirement.
He is again joined with his love Margaret (Smiley), eldest son-Gerald, parents Freida (Buttgereit) and Alexander Von Grad, brothers Ervin and Bill, sister Eileen Grassl and many others close to him.
He leaves behind his children; Patricia (Alfred) Szigli, Blake (Gail) Von Grat and Shauna (Gord Gauvin), 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, sister Margaret, brothers Arthur and Alfred (Phyllis), in-laws Lorie VonGrad, Joan McKee, Louis Glowatski and Edwin Dyer, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
As he soars above with his love of flying, he will be our guide and watch over us…
We are grateful to the staff of the Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, for their most loving care, and his sister Margaret Murray who was always there for him.
Burial will be on July 14, 2018, 1:00 pm at the Flat Valley Cemetery.
