“Voting will take place Wednesday, Nov. 13 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. at the RM of Meadow Lake office,” noted RM administrator and returning officer Richard Levesque. “Only residents or certain property owners in Divisions I, III or V are eligible to vote for their councillor. All divisions may vote for reeve. For more information, contact the RM office at 306-236- 5661.”

In the Village of Loon Lake, mayor Brian Hirschfeld is being challenged by current councillor David Wright, while, in the council election, four people have been acclaimed – incumbents Jonathan Kemp and Joni Taylor, as well as newcomers Matthew Heon and Mindy Lorenz.

As for the RM of Loon Lake, reeve Greg Cardinal has been acclaimed for another term, while also acclaimed to council seats were incumbents Grant Preece in Division I, O’Neil Lavoie in Division III and Rodney Schneider in Division V.

In the RM of Beaver River, reeve Kevin Turchyn is seeking re-election while also seeking the position are Joe Rolfes and Alvin Fedyk. In Division I, incumbent Matthew Wiatr is being challenged by Jason Vongrad, in Division III incumbent councillor Dwayne Degenhardt has been acclaimed and, in Division V, incumbent Lorne Wyss will be back on the ballot along with fellow candidate Dale Laursen.

Heading north, incumbent mayor Rodney Laliberte is being challenged by current village councillor Marlene Folstrom and Jim Laliberte in Green Lake, while those seeking a position as a municipal councillor include incumbent Alice Laliberte along with Max Desjarlais, Tony Horachek, Dale Hounsell, Jackie Kennedy, Darwin Lafond, Laura Laliberte, Gordon McCallum, Wes Regan, Cindy Ross and Kelvin Roy. Meanwhile, Northern Village of Ile-ala Crosse mayor Duane Favel is stepping down, leaving the race for mayor open to former Athabasca NDP MLA Buckley Belanger, as well as current village councillors Bodean Desjarlais and Myra Malboeuf.

Those seeking to serve on Ile-a-la Crosse council are incumbents Vincent Ahenakew, Kevin Favel, Noel McLean and Gerald Roy, as well as newcomers Taylar Belanger, Jansen Corrigal, Robert Dubrule, Peter Durocher, Boone Laliberte and Pamela Misponas. Mayor Nadine Couillonneur is seeking re-election in the northern Hamlet of Cole Bay, while her fellow candidates include current councillor Roseanne Daigneault and newcomer Duane Iron. Those seeking a set on Cole Bay council are Aldina Bouvier, Kestin Couillonneur, Liz Couillonneur, Rylee Couillonneur, Neil Gardiner, Chyenne Opekokew and Nikki Webster. In the Northern Village of Buffalo Narrows, the mayoral race is being con tested by Eric Hartley, current councillor Shaylee Gardiner and former mayor Bobby Woods.

Among those looking to secure a council seat are incumbents Darrel Robson, Janelle Pedersen, Joey Thompson and current mayor Sandra Ericson. Other candidates include Anthony Wareham, Christopher Petit, Dennis Shatilla, Harley Hudson, Ida Mae Seright, Jimmy Woods, John Wojcik and Kevin Hanson.

Again, Election Day is Nov. 13 with advance polls Nov. 6. In the Northern Village of Beauval, incumbent mayor Nick Daigneault is being challenged by Rick Laliberte and current councillor Melvin Roy.

In the council election, candidates are incumbents Aliva Aubichon and Wendy Eldridge, as well as Rosaire Alcrow, Shirley Bell-Morin, James Dennett, Antoinette Ruth Gardiner, Mervin Morin, Frederick Roy and Lori Roy. Mayor Mike Natomagan has been acclaimed in the Northern Village of Pinehouse, while appearing on the ballot in the race for a council seat are incumbent Conrad Misponas along with Curtis Changler, Joel Durocher, Jerald Lariviere, Desmond Natomagan, Vince Natomagan and Gary Tinker. Both the Pinehouse and Beauval elections are also set for Nov. 13.

Meanwhile, voters already headed to the polls in the Northern Village of La Loche. That election took place Oct. 2. In the race for mayor, Lyle Herman received 190 votes to overcome the runners-up which included incumbent mayor Georgina Jolibois with 167 votes, Marvin Rene Herman with 151, Daniel (Skip) Montgrand with 58 and Denis Roland Montgrand with 30. Elected to council were Kevin Janvier with 354, Teffany Lemaigre with 343, Justina Kilfoyl with 290, Kendra Gilbert with 235 votes, Antoinette (Toni) Lemaigre with 207 and Georgina Park with 204. The other candidates were Ida Lemaigre who received 202 votes, Bruce Ruelling with 185 and Harold Herman with 179.
