January 9, 1929 – January 3, 2018
Marguerite (Marg) May Alston passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at the age of 88 years (six days shy of her 89th birthday) after a valiant battle with dementia.
She was born and raised in Meadow Lake, SK where she met and married Mac her beloved husband of 58 years. Marg and Mac spent the next 18 years moving across Canada with Mac’s career with CIBC and finally settling in Calgary in 1971.
Family was very important to Marg and Sunday family dinners were always a full house. Her flower beds were her pride and joy and she even attempted to take up golfing.
Marg is survived by her children: Barb and Grant Brandon; Bill and Deborah Alston; Marguerite and Al Dadswell; and Liz and Kevin Blust; many wonderful grandchildren: Ryan (Natasha); Justin (Teagan); Amanda; Connor; Jessica; August and Emma; great grandchildren: Zander and William; as well as her brothers: John (Barb) Gorst and Art Gorst, her sister-in-law: Patricia Alston.
She was predeceased by her husband William McLean (Mac) Alston; her brother-in-law: Robert (Bob) Alston and sister-in-law: Effie Gorst.
Marg was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many.
A Celebration of Marg’s Life was held at The Calgary Winter Club, (4611 – 14 Street NW), on Sunday, January 7, 2018 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
