June 25, 1918 – March 4, 2018

Henry Zacharias went to be with the Lord on March 4, 2018 comforted by two of his sons. At the time of his passing he was 99 years old.
Henry was born at home near Main Centre, SK to Jacob and Anna Zacharias on June 25, 1918. He was the oldest of eight children.
He was predeceased by his wife: Ruth (nee Boyes); parents: Jacob and Anna (nee Neufeld); brothers: Andrew and Jacob; and great grandson: Ceven.
Henry is survived by his five sisters; children: Edgar (Ellenor) Zacharias, Clinton (Lorraine) Zacharias, Clarice (Dennis) Dyck, Ivan (Lois) Zacharias, Sandra (David) Fisher, and Emma (Morris) Holota; 16 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
At the age of 19, Henry was the youngest and the last homesteader in 1937 in the Loon River District. He married his sweetheart, Ruth Boyes, from Bridge Creek in October of 1944. Together they farmed for 47 years until they sold their farm to their son, Ivan. He continued to help on the farm until he was 80 years old and at the age of 85, he and Ruth moved into Senior housing in Meadow Lake.
Henry enjoyed fishing with family and friends, gardening, woodworking and spending time with family – especially his grandchildren. Two of his favourite pastimes were puzzling – both 2D and 3D and going for coffee at A&W.
Henry was very involved in church throughout his life. He enjoyed teaching adult Sunday School at Compass. He would help with evening services. He was very giving of his time and finances to Silver Birch Bible Camp and Bethel Gospel Camp.
Henry was also very community minded. He was on the Independent School Board, he worked polling stations and was involved in the local snow plow club. He also lent a hand to friends and neighbours whenever it was needed.
Henry enjoyed his independent life at the Seniors Villa. He enjoyed visiting with other residents, cooking his meals, doing his own housekeeping and even canning his own fruit last year.
Henry’s Memorial Service was held at the Evangelical Free Church on Monday, March 12 at 2:00 p.m.
Donations can be made to Bethel Gospel Camp.
