He also leaves behind his brothers: Joe and Harvey; sisters: Agnes, Doreen, Lorraine, Frances and Lucille; sister-in-law: Bonnie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Throughout his life he worked at a variety of jobs. He worked on the water pipeline in Lloydminster, bartended and worked at the pulp mill to name a few. He started a career with Sask. Wheat Pool in the early 60s and spent the last 27 years of his career in Cabri, SK; retiring in 1994. After retirement he kept busy working for various farmers in the area, selling hail insurance and even pumping gas. He was an excellent family provider.
Herman was a long time Lion’s member; serving as president from 1982-83. He belonged to the Legion and would volunteer to help with caretaking of the golf course and any other community events, until his health no longer allowed him to.
Herman was a avid sportsman. he golfed, curled, played tennis and loved fishing trips up north. He loved participating and watching. His favourite channel was TSN. He excelled in the sports he participated in and won many trophies.
Herman was a loving and supportive husband to Marlene. They were a great team, he made many wooden items for her to paint, and in the summer he helped her to keep their yard groomed and beautiful.
Herman had a wonderful sense of humour and loved to laugh and joke with their many friends. He loved to have friends over to play cards and visit. He was a family man and especially loved to spoil his grandchildren. Even when his health was fading, his face always lit up with a big grin when they came for a visit.
The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at House 18 for the compassionate loving care they gave Herman.
