Lorraine Hawryliw passed away peacefully on August 22, 2018 at the age of 87.
Marie Lorraine Pearl Dull was born July 30, 1931 to Alice and John Dull in Herschel, SK. In the fall of 1933, Lorraine moved to Meadow Lake, SK by covered wagon with her parents and brother, Denver.
She married Peter Hawryliw on June 12, 1952 and they made a living farming, mainly in the Clover Bar District of Meadow Lake, SK. Lorraine enjoyed gardening, cooking, playing the accordion and singing. Lorraine had many friends and enjoyed getting together to play cards, go camping and fishing or pick mushrooms and berries. Lorraine joined a bowling league for many years and also worked at the bowling alley. Lorraine sold Avon and took pride in her sales and was recognized in the Avon Presidents Club annually. Lorraine was an avid chuckwagon fan and when she was not able to go and watch the races, she would listen to every race on the radio and then in her 80s learned how to watch them on her iPad. Lorraine enjoyed playing games and Bingo was one of her favourites, which she was still able to play every week at the Northland Pioneers Lodge. Family was important to Lorraine and she tried to keep in touch with everyone.
Lorraine is survived by: daughter: Donna (Melvin) Carl; son: Dale (Colleen) Hawryliw; grandchildren: Tanis (Trevor) Vinck; Tracey (Kelly) Janzen; Shawn Hawryliw; Mark (Jenn) Hawryliw; great grandchildren: Austin (Lyndon) Reddekopp; Danielle Janzen; Jesse Hawryliw; Tanner, Tucker, Timber and Turner Vinck; Ember and Ryler Hawryliw; brothers: Denver (Betty) Dull; Clarence Dull; sister: Cheryl (Jack) Russell; sisters-in-law: Olga Kindel; Violet (Don) Summerfield; Stella Hawrylow; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lorraine is predeceased by husband: Peter Hawryliw; parents: John Dull and Alice Carter; brothers-in-law: Mike Kindel; George Hawrylow.
Funeral services were held Tuesday August 28, 2018 at Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church in Meadow Lake with Father Alberto Dela Pena officiating. Music was provided by Martin Bishop and Sandra Senga and the eulogy was presented by granddaughter, Tanis Vinck. Pallbearers were Mark Hawryliw, Jesse Hawryliw, Austin Reddekopp, Danielle Janzen, Cody Dull and Ashley Russell. Burial was in the Meadow Lake Woodlawn Cemetery. Martens Warman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
